The research-based pharmaceutical company Rephaiah has partnered with Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) to manufacture drugs and vaccines. The production facilities will be located in Chileka, near the international airport in Blantyre.
KUHeS has set a five-year goal to focus on medical research and production, according to Associate Professor Aroz Kamng'ona. The goal is that in the first quarter of 2023, construction will begin on an >700 square meter production facility in Malawi. In order to be able to manufacture medicines and vaccines, additional expertise will be required. Therefore, a partnership has been established with Rephaiah.
Repahaiah is a not-for-profit entity, whose primary goal is to produce drugs for infants and children. The common goal for both Rephaiah and KUHeS is for Malawians to be able to produce drugs for both the national and international markets.
