Establishing pharmaceutical manufacturing in Malawi

In October 2022, the Government of Iceland published a press release concerning the Rephaiah project in Malawi. Here it is reported that Hananja ehf received in 2022 a grant from the Global Goals Fund for Development Cooperation, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the project in Malawi. Infections and death rates among children under the age of five are high in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Malawi, so the project aims at manufacturing vital medicines for infants and children. In the article, the aim is to start pharmaceutical manufacturing within the next two years and that Hananja ehf and the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences have decided to partner and work together on this project.
