June 12th, 2025, the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health published a research paper, by Ms. G.M. Sveinbjornsdottir, Mr. S. Kabota, Dr. S. Gizurarson and Dr. U. Njardvik on the consequences of cerebral malaria (CM). CM is a life-threatening disease that affects mainly children in sub-Saharan Africa. Their study showed that majority of children who survive CM were rated above the clinical cut-off for behavioral changes similar to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). A part of this study was supported by Hananja ehf.
